it took me four days to hitchhike from saginaw

things to do in the upper peninsula:
- go spelunking in mining ruins. try to avoid the sharp, twisted metal and broken concrete. pretend you're in a post-apocalyptic world. make frequent mad max references.
- go to a dry wedding. bring hip flask and bottle of jameson's. swing dance if you're able.
- mix up some sherbet martinis, don some funny hats and feather boas and play drinking pictionary. decide as a group that "ice tits" is close enough to "ice chest".
- cross the lift bridge across the portage canal, where the lift span weighs FOUR MILLION POUNDS. Keep repeating this fact in a dr. evil voice, even as the 50-mph winds threaten to blow you over the edge.
- bring an empty tin and ask katie's mom to fill it with polish cookies (chruĊciki). eat most of them on the drive home.
- watch star trek: nemesis while drinking jameson's with your geekfriends. make additional mad max references during the dune buggy scenes on the sand planet.
- eat pannukakku for breakfast, with rasberry jam. Thank the finnish people for creating the most amazing food ever.

Some blogging friends just moved up there. I'll be sure to tell them about the importance of drinking, drinking and drinking in The UP.
oh they'll figure it out, damn quickly.
I like to think there's vitamin D in alcohol, just to stave off the Seasonal Affective Disorder symptoms, but I have no proof.
