we had seasons in the sun
it was a summer weekend like in a movie or a beach boys song, or how you imagined them in high school if you were older and had more freedom. those images in your head of what life would be like with jobs and responsibility neatly edited out. spontaneous plans to go dancing with friends. lying in the grass and playing chess in the park. afternoons at the pool reading books. bike rides through the trees. watching the tour de france at the brewpub in the mid-afternoon and getting a bit tipsy. dropping by some friends' new apartment and drinking wine. sifting through the used book store. going to yoga class. going out to see a movie. staying in to see a movie (or three). sleeping in, just because.
and absolute perfect weather. it was like hawaii dropped by michigan for three days. sometimes you get so lucky that the (ex)catholic guilt starts to kick in and you hope that others are having as good a time as you.
(special props to erin and ross for spontaneously going dancing with us. "california style" as erin described it: all social events are planned no more than 15 minutes in advance).
