Diluting Ethnic Heritage with Alcohol

I had so many things to add to the rock|n|roll|scientist's post on the st. patrick's day parade in detroit that I decided to just post them here. some observations:

- anonymous drunk young women should not rub their asses on the hoods of cop cars.

- red-faced older gentlemen: be careful when standing in the doorway of the bus while it is driving in the parade--you may fall out!

- what's the draw to the damn mardi gras beads?

- Detroit high school marching bands are hideously under-funded. Get those poor kids some new instruments!

- what was the point of the basketball hoop on the back of the pickup truck? a paper plate with a shamrock on it taped to the bumper doesn't cut it.

- stormtroopers in a parade are always funny (albeit surreal).

- painted wooden cut-outs of St. Patrick look pretty creepy. Live dressed-up versions look even worse (especially when smoking and swilling Labatt Blue while in the parade).

on a personal note, I found you don't have to be drinking to have a good time, and you're not hung over by 5pm either. you will, however, eat more pizza than your beer drinking associates and still get the craving for a wendy's frosty on the way home.

you're only crazy if you're seeing stormtroopers walking down the street.

unless they're in a parade, in which case you may not be.

ah! I am quite the observant one, what with the hidden clues in the word "museum."
